Girls weekend trip to Stockholm
We took a girls trip to Stockholm in May, only an hour flight from Helsinki to Sweden which makes it rather convenient. My friend lives in Stockholm, so we decided to go visit her for the weekend. We stayed in Hotel Nobis located in the heart of downtown Stockholm at Norrmalmstorg 2-3. It sits in the city's premier shopping, business, and nightlife district, just steps from the luxury boutiques on Biblioteksgatan and the lively entertainment hub of Stureplan. Our weekend was amazing, we ate good food (primarily shrimp) all weekend, walked around and enjoyed the last of the cherry blossoms.

Start your morning in Gamla Stan, Stockholm's enchanting Old Town. Arriving early means you'll experience the cobbled streets before the crowds appear, making it the perfect time to wander past the colourful buildings, explore hidden alleyways, browse the independent boutiques, and capture those postcard-worthy photos in the soft morning light. we walked across the old town to the Norrmalm region and stumbled across a flea- market with lovely antiques, silver trays and glassware.
Next, make your way to Östermalm Market Hall for lunch at the iconic Lisa Elmqvist. Order the seafood platter—it's the ultimate Scandinavian feast, piled high with fresh shellfish, oysters, prawns, and other local favourites. Pair it with a crisp glass of wine and soak up the lively atmosphere of one of Stockholm's most famous food halls.
Before dinner, stop by Sturehof for a plate of freshly shucked oysters and a glass of champagne. It's one of Stockholm's most beloved seafood restaurants and the perfect spot for a chic afternoon aperitif before the evening begins.
Afterwards, head over to Djurgården for a leisurely stroll. This beautiful island is perfect for getting your steps in while enjoying the city's green spaces and waterfront views. We also happened to stumble across a lovely Sunday market while wandering around town in the Norrmalm region, filled with vintage treasures. It was one of those unexpected finds that made the day even more memorable.
As evening arrives, book a table at Restaurant Chicco's. The real magic started once dinner service came to an end. The music turned up, the atmosphere transformed, and everyone gathered around the bar to dance. As if the evening wasn't memorable enough, we happened to be seated next to Prince William during dinner—a completely unexpected surprise! Afterwards, we danced the night away by the bar, enjoying the great music and vibrant atmosphere.

Summer in Finland is a season like no other—an enchanting stretch of white nights where the sun barely sets and time seems to slow down. We always spend some time in Hanko during the summer, as this city comes alive during summer time. I love the white sandy beaches and the coastal feeling this town brings. Both Porvoo and Fiskars are also great places to visit from Helsinki as they are located close by. Hanko, the southernmost town in Finland, is a beloved summer retreat where the sea meets sun-drenched charm. Known for its long sandy beaches, graceful 19th-century wooden villas, and laid-back coastal atmosphere, Hanko comes alive in the summer months with a unique blend of history, nature, and seaside elegance. Surrounded by over 130 kilometers of coastline and dotted with rocky islets, it’s a haven for swimming, sailing, and leisurely bike rides along pine-scented paths. Summer is all about swimming in lakes, just like last summer, this one has been lovely and warm so we often find ourselves spendind time swimming in Kirkkonummi, where there are many lakes to enjoy. Helsinki is also lovely for sea swimming, there are plenty of beaches and cliffs to go swim from like Uunisaari. Helsinki is also wonderful for visiting different islands with ferries that commonly leave from the market square. Ive been buying fresh berries on repeat from the marketsquare as they are so sweet and packed with vitamins during the summer time.

Fagervik is a hidden gem on the southern coast of Finland, steeped in charm and quiet history. This former ironworks village, dating back to the 17th century, is nestled in a lush, green valley surrounded by forests and lakes. Naturally we spend some time at our own countryside that is in Punkaharju. There are lots of wonderful places to see if you are in this side of Finland. On the way to Punkaharju, we stopped at Kenkävero & Tertinkartano for lunch that is in MIkkeli.

Punkaharju, near Savonlinna, is one of Finland’s most iconic and picturesque landscapes—a narrow, forested ridge stretching between two sparkling lakes, formed by the Ice Age and celebrated for centuries for its breathtaking natural beauty. Surrounded by clear waters and ancient pines, this national landscape is perfect for peaceful walks, scenic bike rides, or rowing along the tranquil shoreline. The views from the ridge road are unforgettable, especially in the soft light of summer evenings. As we entered, the snowfall graced us with its fleeting presence, setting a picturesque scene captured in precious moments. Sipping on the warmly spiced mulled wine and relishing a delightful almond bun, we savored the cozy atmosphere that enveloped the market. Adorned with enchanting decorations and resonating with festive melodies, the ambiance beckoned us into the heart of the holiday spirit. Handmade treasures adorned the stalls, featuring exquisite finds such as artisan soaps, lamb wool blankets, and delectable homemade delights like mustards and berry juices.
