Tallinn, Estonia Christmas Markets
Tallinn, Estonia Old town
Just a short couple of hours boat ride from Helsinki, you can cross the boarder to Tallinn, Estonia. We decided to make a day trip to the Christmas markets and spend the day roaming around the old town.
Tallinn’s Old Town Christmas market feels like a secret gently shared with winter. Beneath medieval spires and snow-dusted rooftops, the cobblestones glow with candlelight, and the air carries the scent of spruce, cinnamon, and warm mulled wine. Time seems to slow there—carols echo softly against ancient stone walls, wooden stalls shimmer with hand-crafted wonders, and every breath feels wrapped in history and hush. It’s not just a market, but a moment where the past and the present meet to celebrate warmth, light, and quiet joy in the heart of winter. I really enjoy all the hand craft work they sell; I bought a fur hat, woollen socks and a beautiful Christmas ornament. We also enjoyed some mulled wine and ate some sausages. I also, love the visit the flower market whenever in Tallinn. After strolling the old town we later went for lunch at (restaurant moon) that is a bit outside of the old town closer to the industrial area called Balti Jaama Turg, that has a large market.
